- Multi-objective Job-shop Scheduling: An Integer Goal Programming Approach By Mr. B. B. Tripathy
Department of Operations Management, Symbiosis institute of Operations Management - Nashik, India The scheduling is an art of assigning resources to tasks in order to ensure the termination of those tasks in a reasonable amount of time. This paper presents an integer goal programming model considering (1) a multi-performance system of evaluation (2) directly incorporate multiple organizational goals and (3) under certain conditions for minimizing the computational burden. Also in this paper I have extended the formulation of resource constrained scheduling problem as integer goal programming to include specification of multi-objectives. Therefore, this approach to formulating the scheduling problem may be potentially very fruitful and implement able.

- An Optimization Technique for Crashing PERT network in Project Management By Mr. B. B. Tripathy
Department of Operations Management, Symbiosis institute of Operations Management - Nashik, India
The planning and the subsequent programming of a complex project allow us, to identify the duration of the project itself in relation to the assignment costs of the various activities, so as to achieve an acceptable situation of balance between times and costs. This paper presents a method for shortening total project time by determine appropriate activities for crashing in Program Evaluation Review Techniques (PERT) with a minimum cost. The aim of the study is to crashing the pessimistic time in PERT networks by investing the additional amount of money in the activities on the critical path. The result of the model will increase the probability of completing the project in a speci¯c schedule time after investing additional amount of money in the activities.

- A Zero-One Goal Programming Approach for Project Selection By Mr. B. B. Tripathy and Mr. M. P. Biswal
Department of Mathematics, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, Kharagpur - 721302, India
Goal programming is one of the model which have been developed to deal with the multiple objectives decision-making problems. This model allows taking into account simultaneously many objectives while the decision-making is seeking the best solution from among a set of feasible solutions. The paper presents a goal programming (GP) model which aids in product development process for planning. The model is developed based on a case analysis. The overall objective is to design and evaluate a model for effective resource planning in a new product development process. The proposed model: (1) Utilizes a GP approach to reflect the multiple, conflicting goals (2) allows for some degree of flexibility of decision-making with respect to resource allocation. The decision model is formulated as a 0-1 goal programming model which is validated by applying it to real-world. The main contribution is in problem identification and development of the mathematical model for project selection. This GP model facilitates decision-making planning process and managerial policy in resources planning.

- Techniques of Estimating PERT Activity Duration by Mr. B. B. Tripathy
Department of Operations Management, Symbiosis Institute of Operations Management, Nashik India
Project Management is a generic name for methods that study project networking with the purpose of assisting in planning, scheduling and controlling projects. The techniques PERT takes an account the uncertainty of project durations. This paper is going to study the methods and models that are applied to estimate the durations of the activities in a project. Traditionally, the durations and the standard deviations of the project are estimated by the managers or the experts. They often based on their instinct, experiences, or historic data. This paper is going to present researches that provide more accurate method to achieve the objective.

- A multi-choice goal programming approach to multi period Production line scheduling by Mr. B.B. Tripathy
Department of Operations Management, Symbiosis Institute of Operations Management, Nashik India
This paper considers the problem of scheduling multiple products on several different production line (i.e. n-jobs, m-machine scheduling problem) when multiple objectives exist. Specifically a multi-choice goal programming model is developed and demonstrated via a case. The situation of multi-choice aspiration levels may exist in production scheduling problems. However, the problem cannot be solved by correct goal programming (GP) techniques. In order to improve the utility of GP, the paper proposes a new idea for developing multi-choice goal programming model for production scheduling with multi objectives. The production setting model in this paper include three separate production lines that merge into two parallel inspection facility. Specifically the model is developed which considers the achievement of production demand, cost and capacity as objectives in the production problem. The model results assign the amount of several product types to be produced on multiple production line

- Decision Support for Information System Management: An Analytic Hierarchy Process Approach by Mr. B. B. Tripathy and Mr A.D. Lidbe
Department of Operations Management, Symbiosis Institute of Operations Management, Nashik India
Decision-making in the field of information systems has become more complex due to a larger number of alternatives, multiple and sometimes conflicting goals and an increasing turbulent environment. Analytic hierarchy process (AHP) has been proposed as a multi-criteria decision technique in many industries, including technology for the assessment of decision support systems. An analytic hierarchy process (AHP) can be applied if the decision problems includes multiple objective, conflicting criteria, incommensurable unit and aims at selecting an alternative from know set of alternatives. This paper presents an AHP to support information system management for decision making. Information system management is considered to be a complicated multiple criteria decision making problem. In this paper it is explore the appropriateness of AHP to support information system management decision in general. By using the project selection as an example of complex information system decision it has been shown how AHP support decision-making. This AHP facilitates decision-making process in information system management and similar planning setting.
